
The castle was built around 1280 by the Teutonic Knights on a cape at Morag Lake. From the west and south side, the castle was defended by the waters of the lake, while from the other two sides on have dug a moat. In the early years of its existence it was the seat of the Teutonic Order prosecutor.

The medieval, Gothic cathedral – Assumption of Mary and St. Andrew the Aposthel Cathedral – is the oldest building of the hill in Frombork. Built in 1329 – 1388, it has some outhouses, including two chapels: St. George chapel (the so called Polish Chapel) and Christ the Redeemer Chapel (called Szembek Chapel).
More...The Mikołaj Kopernik Museum in Frombork – museum devoted to Mikołaj Kopernik. The Museum was founded in 1912 by the canon Eugen Brachvogla. The first exhibition hall took place at the Cathedral Hill, in the so called Tower of Copernicus. After the II World War, the museum re-opened on 5th September 1948, when in the internal canonries on opened an exhibition devoted to Copernicus. The rebuilding of the museum lasted until 1973.That was the year, when in the basement of the former bell tower on founded a planetarium. In 1975 the museum gained independence.
