The complex of palaces and parks is located in north-west direction from the town, in the Valley of Czarna river. In the beginnings it was a fortress of the Kurozwęki Family erected by the end of XIV century, known from a document dated to 1400 as „Castrum Curoswank”. From this initial building only fragments of gothic walls and moat are preserved until today.

The church and monastery of the Order of the Reformati has been founded in1578 by the Bishop of Cracow Piotr Myszkowski as a collegiate church. Though the construction works had been taken up long after the Bishop’s death. Zygmunt Myszkowski brought from Rome in 1605 the Order of the Reformati, called in Poland Reformati, changing by the same the bishop’s assumptions. In 1683 Stanisław Kazimierz Myszkowski founded a monastery for the Order.

Zamek Rycerski w Sobkowie

Sobkow was founded in 1563 by Stanislaw Sobek from Sulejow, who at that time was a Bielecki Castellan, Małogowski governor and Great Treasurer of the Crown. Later the castle belonged to Drohojowski Family, Wielopolski Family, Sarbiewski Family, Myszkowski Family and since 1725 to Szaniawski Family. In its history, the castle was repeatedly destroyed and completely burnt during combat in 1915. Sobkow lost its civic rights in 1869.

The resort is located in the middle of Świętokrzyskie Mountains, at the base of their highest peak – Łysica (612 m). We can find here a church and the Bernardine convent. At the borders of the Świętokrzyski National Park we’ll find several chapels, among others the Saint Francis chapel near the spring, on the red tourist path leading to the Łysica peak. Święta Katarzyna is the place where in 1910 the first tourist hostel in Świętokrzyskie Mountains has been founded.
